It started with a question: what separates good performance from great performance?

As an athlete on the Canadian National Climbing Team, and later as a coach working with high-level athletes, I learned that the difference wasn’t always who was stronger, fitter, or more technically skilled.

Often, it was what allowed people to use those skills when it mattered: mindset, focus, adaptability, and the ability to perform under pressure.

That idea stayed with me.

In business, I saw the same pattern at the team level. Technical expertise mattered, but so did communication, leadership, teamwork, and decision-making. The strongest teams developed both.

Then I became a paramedic, and the stakes changed.

On the frontline, all of those elements came together under pressure. Stress, decision-making, communication, leadership, teamwork, and resilience weren’t simply “soft skills.” They could directly influence performance and safety.

That realization shaped my work as both a frontline paramedic and educator. I began studying and teaching human factors, non-technical skills, and the mental side of performance, eventually helping develop human factors education for frontline professionals within one of Canada’s largest emergency medical services.

I created Redpoint to take that work further.

In climbing, to redpoint a route means to successfully climb it after practice and previous attempts. You fall. You learn. You adapt. You try again. Through deliberate effort, you develop the capability to do something you couldn’t do before.

That philosophy sits at the heart of Redpoint:
